English Heritage: our heritage
Everyone has seen pictures of the iconic ring of stones at Stonehenge, near Salisbury. Visible from far and wide, they have perplexed and astounded visitors, scholars and religious believers for many centuries. What was their purpose? How were they brought to the area? When exactly was the henge built? Even today, archaeologists continue to search for the answers.
What people might not think about, however, is the on-going maintenance of the site. Although largely unchanged for many years, the overall area needs care to ensure the existence of the stones for the millennia to come.
At R Moulding & Co, we have a contract with English Heritage to provide on-going site maintenance. This includes:
- attention to stonemasonry
- moving of aluminium bridge twice a week during the summer months
- maintenance and upkeep of the custodians’ facility, car parking areas, fencing etc.
We also recently completed the building of disabled facilities to ensure that everyone can access this world-famous site.
Working closely with English Heritage, we can help to protect our historical sites for the generations to come as, through our expertise and experience, we can provide the craftsmanship required to restore and maintain many of the beautiful buildings in southern England.
